The Weekend Report
By Will Evans — Bee Staff Writer
Harrington King, aka Winko Ljizz, is a one-man band.
You can find him on Friday and Saturday nights at different spots around town in his purple truck, the Acoustic Sanctuary. He may not own a lot of music, but he knows what people like.
In his truck, he entertains the public, playing tunes with several instruments at the same time. The Bee woke him up one recent morning.
What’s in the CD player now?
I don’t have a CD player.
Well, what’s on your record player, then?
I have no stereo.
You have no music?
OK. Have you seen any movies recently?
Not even “Mary Poppins”? I would think you’d be a fan of that Dick Van Dyke one-man-band thing?
Oh, yeah, I guess I would be.
You reading any books?
(Laughs). This is going to be a boring interview. Let’s see, I’m reading a how-to-speak-Spanish book.
Muy bien, gracias.
What do you like to do?
(Laughs.) Well, I’m an inventor. I’m always working on some instrument.
What’s your favorite weekend getaway?
I got this camp-out gig that I do, out in Marysville somewhere. That’s kind of a cool one.
Do you have a favorite weekend song to play?
I’ve got a Sacramento song that people like.
I don’t know. I guess it’s called “Sacramento Song.”
How does it go?
Let’s see — oh yeah: “I’ve been down, in fact I’ve been low/Just hanging ’round in Sacramento.”
You go to any music spots around town?
I am a music spot around town.
